Lake Norman Lucky Cats has announced the acquisition of a game-changing new piece of equipment: a sleek new transport van. This vital addition to their operations, dubbed the “Catmobile,” was made possible through the extraordinary generosity of Robin and Jack Salzman and their non-profit, Giving with Grace Foundation.

The new “Catmobile” will significantly expand Lucky Cats’ mission capabilities. "The previous limitations of our transport capacity were a constant hurdle, but those days are behind us," said Robin Byrd, Executive Director of Lucky Cats.
Through the new “Catmobile”, Lucky Cat volunteers can safely and efficiently reach community cats for Lucky Cat’s spay-a-thons, where up to 50 cats per day become Lucky Cats. Through a targeted approach and a combination of low-cost spay/neuter for residents’ pets plus TNR (trap-neuter-return) for community cats, Lucky Cats is making a difference in neighborhoods that need it most. Lucky Cat volunteers identify unaltered cats in the targeted area, and thanks to generous donations from Lucky Cat supporters, community cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned. Friendly kittens and community cats are removed and placed for adoption through Lucky Cats’ rescue partners.

Lake Norman Lucky Cats, founded over 25 years ago by Abigail Jennings, aims to provide a better life for community cats as well as lower euthanasia rates in shelters. Their mission is to make a difference in community cat overpopulation through providing humane spay/neuter solutions benefitting cats and the community. In 2025, Lucky Cats facilitated over 1000 spay/neuters, preventing tens of thousands of kittens this kitten season. Jennings shared, “Thanks to Giving with Grace, the new “Catmobile” is more than just a vehicle; it is a catalyst (pun intended) that will allow us to surpass our current impact and help many more community cats become Lucky Cats.”
Giving with Grace Foundation is a non-profit founded by Robin and Jack Salzman dedicated to supporting charitable causes that have a profound impact in local communities. For more information on the Lucky Cat program, visit LuckyCats.org.
